Someone built this directory…and it ranks on Google.

It’s a simple directory that helps people find dry ice vendors around the world.

Currently, it gets around ~1,500-2,700 monthly visitors.

At it’s peak, it was getting around 16,000 monthly visits.

My first thought was “why in the world would someone ever use this dry ice directory.”

Until I realized that dry ice isn’t just used for haunted houses and high school chemistry class.

My dad has a family food business and during COVID I launched his e-commerce store where we needed dry ice to ship food to customers around the country.

To this day, he still explores different dry ice vendors to find the balance between price and reliable service.

The use cases are broad:

✅ Food businesses and logistic companies use dry ice to ship frozen food across the country

✅ Science labs use it to preserve biological samples, vaccines, etc.

✅ Machineries use it as an industrial cleaning agent

~2k/monthly visits isn’t a wild amount of traffic, but there are B2B monetization opportunities scattered under the surface of this niche.

Even with the laziest approach, the owner of this site could be making $100-$200/month passively by sticking display ads onto their site (Based on my own projects and their 95.6% US based traffic).

If 96% of websites never get any organic traffic, this ugly little thing is absolutely crushing it.

All because they built in a low-competition niche.

This is all to say: If they can do this, you can too.

The Game is Simple: low competition, high potential.

We’re already at a point where creating a website can be generated from a single prompt.

AI helps us implement things lightning fast.

But how good are you at finding low competition niches in weird corners of the internet?

Because that’s the skill that will lead you to profitable micro-startups.

If you could see what I’m seeing, then you’d be convinced that directories make sense for literally thousands of sub-niches where people are looking for specific information.

It’s a skill that takes time and practice to become fluent in.

If you want more personalized feedback + resources

Earlier this week I launched my private community, SYD Pro.

Let me just say…the directories that some of you have already built are INSANE (in a good way).

If you’re looking for more personalized advice from weekly livestreams and want to join 60+ people who are committed to building profitable directories, feel check it out.

Lots of cool things coming.

Prices will likely increase starting May 2025. Trying to keep things small and as valuable as possible at the start.

Keep Building,

Frey
